Volunteering

Volunteering

Federation Skating Club requires each family per season (Oct-May) to do:

1. A Donation

Some parents are unable to volunteer their time to help due to work schedules, travelling spouse etc, therefore you can donate $100.00 non-refundable instead of doing one of the volunteering activities. This is added to your registration fees with the current date. The donation helps make sure the Club can keep registration costs down.

OR

2. Volunteering

ONE MANDATORY volunteering activity. A $100.00 cheque deposit POST DATED MARCH 1, 2012 is required at the time of registration, which will be returned once the volunteering activity has been completed. If duty NOT fulfilled your cheque will be CASHED!

Below are the volunteering activities we are looking to fill:

Christmas Party – December FULL

Each December on the last day of lessons, we hold our annual Christmas Party & Family Skate. Each arena has a number of Volunteers (the parents that chose this option) who join together and buy goody bags (think of children's birthday parties & spend $20-$25/volunteer) for all the skaters on the ice that day (numbers provided by the Club). Also some will organize all the parents of the Club to bring a plate of treats for our potluck- chips, desert, cheese & sausage, spinach dip etc for all to share with our group.
Please check our newsletters and online calendar for dates.

Year End Ice Show

Confederation Arena Sunday March 18, 2012

This is an enjoyable event for all involved. Skaters dress up in costumes and do a routine together with their class to music going along with the theme and showcase the skills they have learned over 10 or 20 week sessions. Rehearsal of the Year End Show starts in January just taking 15 minutes of lesson time. Participation in the Year End Show is MANDATORY as if a skater is a no show then it throws the rest of the skaters off. We need volunteers to start in October all the way to Year End Show Day to help with decorations, costuming, programs, donations, setup/clean up, music, MC, etc. You must be available for the whole 10-20 weeks of your session as there is many things to do and little time to do it.

AGM & Family BBQ - Spring FULL

Each year we hold our Annual General Meeting and Family BBQ in the spring and all our current skaters & their family are welcomed. Some duties are: cooking, set up & clean up, babysitting, prepare food, etc.

If NO attendance, your cheque will be CASHED!

Executive Member - Sept. to July

This is a way to get involved with the Club. Become a Board Member and have a say as to how to better further along the Club. Bring forward new ideas and different ways to keeps registration fees low and all things related to the Club.
