The Facts:
AGES: 3 & 4 years old
LESSON LENGTH: 30 minutes X 1 day a week
GROUP SIZE: 1 Coach: 8 skaters + Program Assistant
MANDATORY YEAR END ICE SHOW: Confederation Arena – Sunday March 18, 2012
NOTE: Parents are NOT allowed on the ice at anytime. Please have your skater at the gate & we will have someone help them to the appropriate class.
STRUCTURE: This fun-on-ice program is to help these young skaters learn to interact with other kids and is focused on the development of learn basic skating skills such as standing, balancing and gliding. The skills are learned through games and interactive activities. This is not an ongoing programming option, once the skills have been mastered or they reach the age of 5 years old the skater will move on to the CanSkate program.
Occasionally, very young children do not respond to "group instruction" and it may be recommended by the Coach that they be withdrawn from the class and try again at a later date.
PROPER SKATING ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT: We recommend that you purchase:
* Single bladed, leather lace up skates rather than the moulded skates. Figure or hockey skates.
* DO NOT purchase the style of skates that have one or two straps instead of the laces
* CSA approved hockey or skating helmets are MANDATORY.
* No bicycle helmets, trailing scarves, elbow or knee pads required.
* When purchasing new or used skates, please make sure to sharpen them as they DO NOT come sharpened.
* Make sure skaters go to the bathroom before class time.
* Wear snow pants, jacket & gloves. REMEBER that it is cool in the arena but as they move around they will warm up. No jeans as this restricts movement.
